Dane DeHaan and Aubrey Plaza are starring in zombie comedy “Life After Beth”, according to THR. John C. Reilly and Paul Reiser also star in the film written and directed by “I Heart Huckabees” scribe Jeff Baena.
DeHaan plays a young man who struggles – against all odds – to keep a relationship going with his girlfriend (Plaza) even after she’s killed and then resurrected as a zombie. Reiser will play DeHaan’s dad, while Reilly will play Plaza’s. Plaza and Reilly have been attached to the film since late 2012, but things finally got off the ground and “Life After Beth” is now filming in Los Angeles.
Plaza is a rising presence on the quirky, indie scene, where she has a niche of deadpan comedy all her own. After supporting turns in films like “Funny People” and “Scott Pilgrim vs the World”, she turned in a rather nice and understated lead performance in Colin Trevorrow’s “Safety Not Guaranteed”, and will headline upcoming comedy “The To-Do List” (I’ve seen it, and it was another pleasant surprise from this girl who’s not as much of a one-trick-pony as her character on “Parks and Recreation” might suggest).
DeHaan just wrapped up playing Harry Osborn in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″, and was most recently seen in Derek Cianfrance’s multi-generation crime drama “The Place Beyond the Pines.” Sundance hit “Kill Your Darlings” comes next, as well as 3D concert film “Metallica: Through the Never.”
