Getting a bit lost in the “Fruitvale Station” – “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints” – “The Spectacular Now” shuffle is another buzzy Sundance flick we can’t wait for, and today we finally have the first teaser footage from John Krokidas’ Beat generation origin tale “Kill Your Darlings.” And it looks pretty great.
Daniel Radcliffe dominates the :30 teaser not-quite-trailer that’s debuted ahead of the film’s international premiere at the Venice Film Festival next month, playing a young, not yet iconic Allen Ginsberg as he enrolls at Columbia University. There are brief glimpses of Ben Foster as William Burroughs but there seems to be more focus on Michael C. Hall as David Kammerer and Dane DeHaan as Lucien Carr, two lesser known historical players who had nonetheless a huge hand in bringing in ushering in the age of Ginsberg, Burroughs and Jack Kerouac (played here by Jack Huston).
“Kill Your Darlings” was picked up by Sony Pictures Classics out of Sundance and has been set for an October 18th release date, so hopefully we’ll get a full length trailer soon, but for now, see the first teaser below,.
